Description
Potassium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH. Also it is commonly called caustic potash. Along with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), this colorless solid is a prototypical strong base.
It’s used in many of the same applications as sodium hydroxide. In addition, aqueous KOH is used as the electrolyte in alkaline batteries. It is also used to manufacture soft soaps and liquid soaps by saponification.
